“Jesus was to die to gather together the scattered children of God.”
John 11:45-56
The Pharisees saw Jesus’ death as a way to protect their own power and were not actually concerned about the people. In reality, his death had a greater purpose, it brought salvation to all humanity, even to the Pharisees who opposed him.
His death would unite us all believers through the institution of the Eucharist. God is placed at the centre and becomes the foundation of the Church and each of its members. It was a heavy price to pay, but Jesus offered it willingly.
Yet how much do we truly value this unity? Do we strive to belong and participate, while also helping others to find their place in the Church? Do we desire to build a community with those around us, supporting one another and journeying together spiritually? Today, we ask Jesus to guide us in becoming better members of the Church, to draw us closer together, and to help each other grow in faith and love.
