“The Law does not allow us to pass judgment on a man without hearing him.”
John 7:40-52
Nicodemus challenges us with a question today: do we judge others unfairly? After all, if Jesus, who was sinless, could be judged and then condemned to death, how much easier it is for us to judge others. It is therefore important for us to ponder these questions. Have we formed opinions about someone from afar, without taking the time to understand them? Have we judged others based only on what we have heard from others, or treated someone differently because of peer pressure? Have we held on to old opinions about someone and no longer given them room to change our minds?
Today, we reflect on how we can be more mindful of our thoughts about others. We ask for God’s grace to help us see and speak about others in a new light, to listen more deeply, to act sincerely and to judge less.
