“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season…”
2 Timothy 4:1-5
It is not always easy to share the Gospel. We can face all kinds of challenges and hardships. But in today’s reading, St Paul writes to Timothy to encourage him in the preaching of the gospel. He says, “preach the word, and be prepared in season and out of season…” In other words, he is saying that at all times we are to be prepared to give a word of hope and life to anyone God places in our path. This means not allowing our own feelings or circumstances to hinder us. The message is too important for us to withhold it, waiting for a more suitable time. That time may never come. We need to take advantage of the time and strength that God gives to us, trusting he will provide what we lack.
Lord, please help us to be ready to speak your word of hope to anyone you place in our lives.
