“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

II Timothy 4: 5-8

In today’s reading, St. Paul encourages us that no matter what difficulties we may experience, if we keep the faith, our reward will be great in the end. As we look at the life of St. Paul, we see that he persevered through multiple imprisonments, persecution, and hostility from the Jews, along with many other challenges. Yet he did not give up; instead, he worked tirelessly and dedicated his life to the mission, so that the fruits of his work are still seen profoundly today.

Oftentimes, we may feel tired and discouraged by the difficulties we face and find it hard to live as true Christians during those moments. St. Paul stands as a good example of the saints who have gone before us and succeeded, not by being perfect, but by persevering. Let us not lose heart over our small failures, but focus on the great victory that awaits us in the end.
