“If your faith were the size of a mustard seed, the mountain would move.”
Matthew 17:14-20
In today’s reading, we witness the power of faith when we allow God to work the impossible through us. Jesus reminds us that we only need a little faith to move a mountain. When the disciples were not able to work the miracle of healing the sick child, Jesus tells them that it is their lack of faith that prevented the healing, not the inability on the part of God. Are there times in our lives when God is prevented from working through us because of our lack of faith? When we feel our faith is weak, we can call upon Jesus, “Lord, increase my faith.”
Our faith will carry us through and will continue to help us grow closer to God and his ways for us. It is by faith that we see Jesus at work in our lives and in the lives of others.
Today, in prayer, let us ask Jesus, How are you inviting me to have more faith? It may be a difficult situation, a person that we keep thinking about, or a big or small decision we need to make. Let us practice the gift of faith and see it unfold as we live each day. In time, we will see the fruits of our labour through God working within us.
