Friday 20th of March
“They would have arrested him, but his time had not yet come.“
John 7:1-2,10,25-30
Why did some of the Jewish leaders want to seize and kill Jesus? The Jews revere the name of God so much that they never say it. But Jesus said, “I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. I know him because I am from him and he sent me.” He was not only saying that he was the Messiah, who God had sent to save his people. He was also saying that He was at the same level as God, which was heresy to the leaders. Jesus could have avoided saying the truth, but God, his father, had sent him to share the good news that we are all his children.
Jesus showed his faith and courage by telling everyone about his identity as the Son of God. He knew that his time had not yet come, but when his time came at his Passion, he still did his Father’s will to the end, even to death. Jesus, please give us your courage when we are challenged about our faith and our identity as God’s children.
