Friday 30th of January
“The kingdom of God is a mustard seed growing into the biggest shrub of all.”
Mark 4:26-34
How does evangelisation work? We share our faith, and we may not see any results. But Jesus tells us that growing his kingdom is like planting a seed. We don’t have to do all the work ourselves. We plant a seed of faith, and it sprouts and grows even when we are sleeping. We may not even know how the other person’s faith grows. We may not see the results of the sharing of our word and actions, but we can trust that God will continue to work in the other person.
Also, we should appreciate the gift of our faith. Our faith is a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, that becomes the greatest of all shrubs. When the kingdom of God’s love grows, it becomes a shelter for people in trouble, like the shrub, where the birds of the air can make nests in its shade. Jesus, thank you for working through us, so that even the small seeds of faith that we share can grow into your great kingdom of love.
