Friday 21st of November
“Blessed are the feet of those who bring good news.”
Isaiah 52:7-9
The prophet Isaiah proclaims a hopeful message and brings good news to a people still in exile. Today’s reading reminds us that we, too, are called and sent by God to be messengers who carry hope to others. ”How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” We are called today to be the hands, the feet, and the eyes of Christ in the world, for as the poem attributed to St. Teresa of Ávila says, “Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”
Our first reaction to God’s call is often a sense of incapacity, unworthiness, or impurity. Yet we must remember how Jesus washed the disciples’ feet, and how God touched Ezekiel’s mouth with a burning coal when he protested that he was unclean.
In your prayer, reflect on how you can bring the good news of hope to those you meet each day—and even to those you may meet only once. The mission is not only about people coming to us; it is also about the people God is asking us to go to. So put on the shoes of eagerness and get your feet ready to step out of yourself and toward others!
