”Meditate on the law day and night.”

Joshua 1:1-8

New seasons often come with uncertainty, new roles, responsibilities, or challenges that feel too big for us. That’s exactly where Joshua finds himself. Moses, the great leader of Israel, is gone, and now Joshua must step into leadership. But before he leads the people, God speaks to him, not with strategies or battle plans, but with a call to stay close to His Word. God tells Joshua to “keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night…”

This isn’t about reading the Bible as a duty; it’s about staying rooted in God’s Word. When we pray with the Word, we don’t just read it, we internalise it. We speak it, think on it, and allow it to shape our thoughts and actions. Prayer and the Word go hand in hand. In prayer, we bring our fears and weaknesses before God. In His Word, we hear His promises and receive courage. Just as God assured Joshua, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” we too are reminded through Scripture that we are not alone or forsaken.
