“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
Matthew 28:19–20
As Christians, faith is a gift to be shared, not something to keep to ourselves. We are called to ‘make disciples’, but we can only do so by first being with Jesus and allowing him to encounter us through prayer. As Pope Benedict XVI stated,‘Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.’
Jesus wants to speak personally to us today. Are we open, humble, and receptive? He says ‘I am with you always’ – do we remember him, and speak to him throughout our day? Because it is only from a living relationship with Him that a transmission of faith to others can happen. Today, let us pray for a greater awareness of our commissioning and mission, and strive to live this out.
