“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them male and female he created them.”
Genesis 1:22-29
In the creation story, one created being stands out among all others as having a particularly special dignity—man. God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.’ God is a trinity, three persons, a family, and we are created to join in this family and share in eternal communion with them. We are created with an infinite capacity in our soul for peace and happiness which no one and nothing on this earth can satisfy. Do I feel this longing and dissatisfaction with the world? Do I share this with the Lord? How is he inviting me to live this eternal life with him now, today? How are we called to be a witness of this eternal destiny with God, to others? Today, let us ponder our own infinite value and worth, and remember that everyone we encounter is created in the image of God.
