St Thomas

In Christ you are no longer aliens, but citizens like us.”

Ephesians 2:19-22

St Paul reminds us that as Christians, we have been brought into God’s family; citizens of God’s own household. The Christian family we belong to is built on the foundation of the apostles, like St Thomas, whose feast day it is today. We are called to be family to one another, united by the holy Spirit who dwells within us. How do we live this out? Who is God asking me to reach out to today, who may feel alienated or separated from us?

We may know Thomas for his doubting, but it was his question at the last supper ‘How can we know the way?’ that caused Jesus to answer, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” that is such a cornerstone of our faith. We pray that, like St Thomas, our own doubts may not be an obstacle to God using us for his mission, wherever we are.
