“Put on God’s armour and resist the devil.”

Ephesians 6:10-20

Today St Paul reminds us that our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with principalities and powers of this world. This passage can become a prayer we pray in readiness to draw strength from the Lord for this spiritual battle. By putting on the girdle of truth, we may stand firm in the truth of what God says about us, not the lies of the enemy. The breastplate of righteousness, guards our heart from evil. The shoes of peace that we may be a light to others. To take the shield of faith, to combat the darts of despair, or doubts. The helmet of salvation, to keep our mind and thoughts focused on Jesus, the one who strengthens and saves us. We also call on the Holy Spirit, present in the word of God, to guide and direct our steps closer to the Trinity.
