“Moses Moses, come not nearer, remove the sandals from your feet.”
Exodus 3:1-6, 9-12
Today, our passage moves on to an “adult Moses,” and we see him encountering God, who speaks to him from this burning bush. Sometimes, deep in our hearts, we may feel an urge to draw closer to God, just as Moses drew close to this burning bush. God told Moses to remove his sandals before approaching Him. As we approach God in prayer, is there anything we need to remove before coming to Him? Lack of faith, fear, or pride?
Today in our prayer, Jesus calls us to take a step further in seeking him and recognising this as his personal call to us. His calling never ceases because each of us possesses the capacity to be his instrument. By praying, we can be aware of his invitation to us through his love and presence, enabling us to respond to his call. Jesus not only wants us to experience the burning bush but also invites us to share him with others, and to have this burning fire within us of God’s love that we pass on to others. Are we aware of Jesus’ call?
