“Mary has chosen the better part, and it will not be taken away from her…”
Luke 10: 38-42
To exercise prayer, we need to take the time and choose to sit down at the feet of Jesus. We will always find other things to do, but prayer has to be our priority! What are we worried about as we start our time of prayer? We know that we will find it hard to focus on what Jesus wants to share with us if we are distracted.
We may find it helpful to quickly write down our worries. We can leave them with Jesus and after our prayer, He will help us to put them into perspective. Mary did not leave her work to Martha all of the time, she just listened to Jesus first and worked later. What is the point of putting all of our efforts into an activity and then finding that we were wasting our time? Jesus, please help us to be open to our Father’s will before we start acting so that You will be able to produce much fruit through us.
