“Which of the two did the will of his father?”
Matthew 21:28-32
Jesus speaks to us in parables about practical matters that we can relate to. We have probably all had the experience of being let down by people. How do we feel when someone says that they will do something important for us, but they don’t follow through? We see that they aren’t reliable and we are less likely to trust them in the future. But if someone says that they won’t help us, but they change their minds, we are more likely to give them a second chance.
God our Father gave His people the Israelites many opportunities to listen to Him, but they turned away. He sent not only John the Baptist, but many prophets before him. They rejected God’s messages and even killed some of His messengers. Then God sent His only Son, but the Israelites were too proud and self-righteous to accept His challenging teachings. Jesus, please help us to be humble like the prostitutes and the tax collectors and change and follow the path of righteousness. Then we will enter Your kingdom now and join You in paradise when we die.
