“How will they hear unless someone is sent?”
Romans 10:11–15 “
The mission of the Verbum Dei community is prayer and service of the Word. But why can’t the priests and Missionaries do all of the evangelisation? They are the people with lots of knowledge and zeal for God! But how will people hear the Good News? Will our family and friends and the people who we know socially, through our work and education come into contact with a Missionary? Will they see how Missionaries live out God’s love?
Mission is not for a select few — it is the call of every baptised Christian. We want everyone to be able to call on the name of the Lord and be saved. Many people who need to hear and see the Good News in action won’t hear it and experience it unless we proclaim it to them. Our example of Christian life is what will have the most impact on those who know us, not just hearing a stranger talking. Are we open to being sent on this Mission?
Jesus, please help us to see ‘How beautiful are our feet when we bring good news!’
