“We preach a crucified Christ, the power and wisdom of God.”

1 Corinthians 1: 18-25

St Paul grew up as a Pharisee and was an expert in the Jewish law. He was able to write in the ancient Aramaic language, as well as Greek and Latin. But St Paul did not only rely on his education when he evangelised. He said, “We preach a crucified Christ, the power and wisdom of God. For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.”

We may feel that we are not worthy to share our faith and that we should not speak up because we are not experts. But people are usually more interested in our personal faith experiences and how we relate to Jesus rather than hearing theological arguments. Also, if people are having a hard time in their lives and would like to hear about our faith, they want us to listen first and to share how God can help them. Thank you, Jesus for inviting us to help in your mission. Please help us to rely on your strength and wisdom rather than our own.
