“Pharaoh’s daughter finds Moses among the bushes.”

Exodus 2:1-15

Moses’ mother put him in a basket in the river hoping that he would be adopted because the Pharoah had decreed that all Jewish baby boys would be killed. Moses was like Jesus in being threatened with death at birth and in many other ways. Moses gave his people God’s Law and led them out of slavery. Jesus fulfilled the law of Moses and gave us the higher standard of God’s law of love. Jesus led us out of the slavery of sin to the Promised Land of God’s kingdom.

How do we feel about trying to lead others into God’s kingdom? We might focus on all of our obstacles, but we can look to Moses to see how to overcome them. Moses was born a slave and abandoned as a baby, but God protected him, and he was treated as a son of the Pharaoh’s daughter. He had time in the wilderness, but he returned to save his people, and he is one of he great heroes of the Old Testament. Jesus, please give us the courage, patience and love to help God our Father fulfil His covenants to His people as you and Moses did.
