“Jesus rebuked the winds and the seas, and all was calm.”

Matthew 8:23-27

What did the disciples expect when they woke up Jesus? They were in a great gale and their boat was being swamped. They were afraid of being drowned and they probably wanted Him to help them bail the water out of the boat. Instead, He rebuked the winds and the sea and all was calm. They were amazed.

What do we expect of Jesus in our lives? Do we see not ask anything of Him in prayer? Do we see Him as just an ordinary man who is powerless, or as our mighty God who doesn’t care about us? Jesus loves us and wants to help us, but we need to have faith and to ask Him. He wants to still any storms that we are facing and to give us peace and calm. When we feel overwhelmed by problems and that we are perishing, He tells us, “Don’t be afraid.” Jesus, please give us faith to trust in you , so that people turn to You because they see how you use your power to save us.
