“I have without faltering put before you the whole of God’s purpose.”
Acts 20: 17-27
St Paul shows us how genuine he was in living out his faith. He was able to say to the leaders of the church in Ephesus that he always served the Lord with all humility and with tears, and that he never shrank from doing anything helpful. Paul knew that whoever he spoke to, Christian or Gentile, Jew or Greek, could see that he practised what he preached. He did not count his life as of any value to himself because he was only concerned with saving others by sharing the Good News with them.
How do we feel when we have opportunities to share our faith? We may feel that we are hypocrites because we are not up to the standards of love of Jesus. Or we may be more worried about our reputation than with what other people need to hear. St Paul, please help us to learn from how you shared your faith – with humility, courage, authenticity and with genuine concern for the spiritual health of those you spoke to.
