Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary

 “Prophets and holy men longed to hear what you hear.”

Matthew 13:16-17

Do we feel blessed to have heard the word of God? We may or may not feel it. Do we know, do we believe that we are blessed? Or maybe we are still longing to see and hear. If so, we know that we are not alone, even amongst holy people! We can still choose to soften our hearts. Mary’s parents, Anne and Joachim, whose feast day it is, were blessed with Mary’s birth late in life; they were open to a miracle, lived in faith and trusted God. They were open to see and hear God in their lives.
