Saint Mary Magdalen
“Mary, go and find the brothers and tell them.”
John 20:1-2,11-18
Why are you weeping? This is a poignant question thrown not only to Mary Magdalene but also to us in modern times. We may have many justified reasons for weeping but we must never forget that Jesus has been raised from death to life! For that alone, we have reason to rejoice because we now know that death is not the end but a way through. We are now assured of victory over suffering or injustice.
Allow ourselves to learn from Mary Magdalene, a woman of bad reputation, whose courage and faithfulness to Jesus gave her the privilege to be the first person to witness the resurrection. Moreover, she was given the mission to proclaim it to Jesus’ inner circle of friends. Indeed, it does not matter what people think of us. We are sinful and weak but let us love with all our hearts and minds. That is more important than reputation. The mission of Mary Magdalene is also our mission. Let us go, tell and show to others that Jesus is alive in our lives. Do you carry out your discipleship the way Mary Magdalene did?

Matthew 12:14-21 “He cured them all but warned them not to make him known.”
When we follow Jesus, we are shown the way to a life filled with hope. However, the Pharisees did not understand Jesus’ good works of healing and sought to oppose and destroy him. Sometimes, we may be followers of Jesus, and in other moments, we can rebel against God’s will, which can affect our relationship with Jesus. Do we realise that everything we go through can be used for good if we open ourselves up to Jesus? Jesus shows us that he can heal any part of us if we believe. Jesus wants to pull us close to him, calling us to prayer and seeking to know him more to understand his love, mercy and compassion. Let us be moved to follow Jesus and to listen to his voice so that we may live our lives with joy
