“The glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all people shall see it.”

Isaiah 40: 1-11

What do we think of when we hear the word “Glory”? We hear sports commentators say, “What a glorious goal!” Politicians who lead their countries into war say, “We will have a glorious victory!” Human beings relate glory to status and prestige. God is the opposite and He speaks through the prophet Isaiah to foretell when every valley will be lifted up and every mountain laid low. All people are grass and will wither, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Our Father did not send us a victorious general to show His glory and save His people. Instead, He gave us a helpless baby born into the most humble, vulnerable state imaginable, in a stable. The poor shepherds were our representatives at the birth and Jesus became our good shepherd, feeding His flock. Jesus, please help us to see your glory in the humble experiences of life. Give us the grace to be shepherds for our brothers and sisters, so that they can experiences Your glory through us.
