“Ask, and it will be given to you.”

Luke 11:5-13

In today’s reading, Jesus emphasises the importance of persistence in our prayer, as well as an attitude of seeking, knocking and asking for the holy Spirit. Do we pray like Jesus teaches in today’s passage? God always listens to us when we pray, and always answers, even if it is not the answer we want or expect. He honours us when we persist, for this shows our faith and trust in him. When we pray, are we like children approaching our heavenly father, who desires to give good gifts to us? We can talk to Jesus about these things. How is our attitude in prayer, and does anything need to change? Today let us ask him again for the holy Spirit who intercedes for us when we don’t know how to pray, and continue to persist with faith, hope and love.
