Tuesday 31st of October
“The kingdom of God is like the yeast that leavened three measures of flour.”
Luke 13: 18-21
We need to add yeast to bread if we want it to rise and to have flavour. Jesus tells us that if we become part of His kingdom, we will be yeast to the world. We may feel that the small efforts that we make in our daily lives will have no effect, especially when we see the enormous and long lasting problems in the world. We may ask ourselves, “What can I do to stop the wars, disease and suffering that I see every day?”
Jesus promises us that He will multiply the fruits of our labours. If we do nothing, people around us will be like flour that is not used to produce food and is wasted. But we can put into practice the saying, “Be the change that you want to see in the world.” Then, Jesus will take our words and deeds and make them like yeast, bringing flavour and energy to all of those around us. Jesus, please help us to bring your bread of life to the world.
