“It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick.”
Matthew 9:9-13
Jesus always shared his table and life with all kinds of people without discrimination. Today, the Pharisees question when Jesus eats with texts collectors and sinners. Jesus is quick to answer that it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. At times we can be quick to judge and condemn others for their lifestyle, choices and opinions,
However, our reading today challenges us to be like Jesus and draw need to people who are different from us to extend the compassion, unconditional love and words of Jesus to them. In the word of Mother Teresa, “If you judge them, you have no time to love them.”
Lord, we pray that you might extend our hearts today. Help us have a heart like yours, open, respectful, patient, and always trusting that God is working in and through us.
