“The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.”
Matthew 9:35-38
Most of us have probably had the experience that when we are away from God, we may become restless, dissatisfied, insecure and troubled like a sheep without a shepherd. However, when we are close to him and connected through prayer, we feel fulfilled, at peace, hopeful and loved. Jesus is our Good Shepherd who can save us and give us purpose, hope, faith and love. And in his mercy, he allows us to get up and encounter him every time we fail or fall short of the life he calls us to live.
In the same way, we are called to go out and share Jesus and the Word of God with others, sharing the light, hope, life and love he offers. Perhaps sometimes we make excuses for not sharing our faith. We might say we are too young or old, and we underestimate ourselves, but Jesus knows our capacity. He entrusts us to be his instruments. Do we trust Jesus’ plans for us to be his helpers? Do we rely on Jesus or our ability? Can we get rid of our excuses?
