“See, you are telling me: Lead this people. But you have not let me know whom you will send with me.”
Exodus 33:12-17
Moses’s intimate relationship with God empowered him to say yes to the mission of leading the people of Israel out of Egypt into the promised land. We may think that leading is about power and status. But Moses was only worried about pleasing God and doing what was right for his people. He was a leader because people were prepared to follow him on his journey. Moses was so selfless that he did not actually make it to the Israelites’ promised land himself. Moses died just before they arrived, and Joshua led them on the final stage.
God wants to count on each one of us today. Can we recognise God calling us to lead others into the promised land of God’s love? We might feel inadequate and not know how to start on this journey. But God is pleased with us and He will send His presence with us. Father, please give us the gift of faith to take the first step so that You can lead others to the Kingdom of Heaven through us.
